Today was the first day that all of us were in the German school. We all had different schedules or things we had planned for while we were at school. But a couple of us did do something together. For instance, we all went to English classes at some point during the first two classes. Cooper and Emma spent the first two hours in a 7th-year class, Kailey and I went to a 9th-year and 5th-year class during the first and second hour, and Katie and Eli went to a class during the second hour, but I don't know what grade they visited.
This was the 9th-year classroom.

When we were in the class, they were working on a presentation. Which a couple of groups presented. The presentation was about why reading matters.
The second picture is the view outside of the 9th-year class. They have two different buildings with many different classes. Their school is way bigger than our school. After that class was over, Kailey and I went to a 5th-year class.
This is the 5th-year classroom. When we were with their class, they were able to ask us questions. All of their questions were about things like our families, pets, hometowns, school, and how we like Germany so far, to name a few. In my opinion, that was the highlight of my school day, especially since later when I was walking to gym class they said hi to me. So that was pretty cool. The first year that they are out of elementary school is 5th-year, so they're the youngest year.
Some of the others in the group gave me some of their opinions. To paraphrase we concluded, that the kids at this school seemed less annoying or loud and that they were given more free time.
A couple of things that I noticed are that their classes are shorter than ours, I think they were around one hour. Their school is way bigger than ours, and the students seem friendlier.
My reasoning for why they may seem less annoying or loud is that it's more common for Europeans to be quieter than Americans are. We have a very open and extroverted culture while Europeans are more reserved and quieter. I don't have any scientific backing to that statement, it's just what I've observed.
I also wonder how the 1 hour classes fare. Are the kids more productive, more engaged than longer classes, etc. VB
That is sooooo interesting. I would love to be in those hallways to see the difference between classes. ML
