Day 2 of GAPP

I started writing this a couple of days ago, but I'm just having time to finish it now, so keep in mind that this is for April 18. Day 2 was less stressful than day 1, but a lot more walking since there was less traveling. Fortunately, today there were no random fire alarms. The day officially started at 9:30 am when we left the hotel. It was a busy day after that. We took a bus to Mirabell Palace and Gardens where we walked around the gardens for a while and took many pictures.

After the gardens, we went across walked across the river on a love lock bridge and walked around some shops for a little while going to shops and exploring. Along the street, we found many interesting and cool shops to look at and go in to maybe buy something.

After the shops, we went to the giant chessboard. This is where Eli and Cooper faced off, and Eli won. While they played, the rest of us looked at the shops near it or took pictures of the views.

We also went into the Cathedral. It was very pretty and had amazing architecture. It was crazy to think how long ago it was built and how it was made by hand.

After that, we went to the Hohensalzburg Fortress. Which is the biggest fully preserved castle in Central Europe. The climb was quite a walk, but in my opinion, it was worth it for the views we saw. We didn't have to climb down because we were able to take the fortress funicular which is a railway used to provide accessibility to the fortress. The fortress had many things, but it was mostly a museum.

That night for dinner we went to a restaurant and some of us tried Döner Kebab.

Ruby, I don't think we've met. I'm "Madame Petite," French teacher, who got to spend my sophomore year of college with a host family in Angers, in France.

Your quote from Mark Twain on Day 1 was right to the point. Being away from home made me mindful of how much it meant to me. We didn't have cell phones then, or email, and it was too expensive to make many calls, so you can imagine how precious real letters were. The French family I lived with were lovely. 40 years later, we remain in touch. I have plans to stay with their youngest daughter and family in New York for a couple days this summer.

Here's to your remaining…

Amazing day! I know I should comment on your beautiful pictures but all I can think of is that your band should be called "Random Fire Alarms" and that your first album cover should be that shot of you all under the garden arch. You all look so COOL.
