7 Days to Go

We leave for Germany in seven days. The clock is ticking. This trip has been years in the making and was delayed due to the pandemic. Everything is getting more real now that there are only seven days left to go. There's a mix of excitement and nervousness as there always is before a big trip, but it's different now because it's a ten hours plane ride and we'll be speaking German instead of English.

I gave some information about GAPP on the About page, but here's some more information that will hopefully answer some questions. The trip is fourteen days long from April 16 to April 30. Six high schoolers are going on this trip, two seniors and four sophomores. This trip was first planned to happen back in April 2021. So a lot has changed since then, it's now April 2023. The first week we'll spend exploring Salzburg and experiencing the culture. Then the second week, we'll get a great sense of the culture because we'll be living with a host family and going to a secondary school in Viersen with our host sibling.

A lot of work has gone into this trip and I'm grateful to everyone that has worked hard to make this possible. Especially, our schools' nurses that have provided us with N95 masks and COVID-19 tests, and our German teacher, Frau Anderson who has taken this program from our previous German teacher and has worked hard to make this happen for the first time since the pandemic. Everything is getting real. The next update will probably be when we're there.
